Eligibility Criteria for the International Council of Ophthalmology Fellowship

To qualify for an ICO Fellowship, applicants must fulfill specific requirements:

  • Requirements: A minimum 12-month research training experience.

  • Neuro-Ophthalmology, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Retina Tumours, Uveitis, Dry Eye Cornea, and Cornea.
  • A copy of your specialist examination in Ophthalmology must also be provided as proof.
  • An applicant should possess proficiency in the language spoken at their fellowship center and be under 40 at the time of application. Follow these steps to apply for the International Council of Ophthalmology Fellowship

  • You must create an ICO Account before selecting an ICO Fellowship(s). After providing information about your country and state of residence, any Fellowship(s) you qualify for will be displayed as options on the screen.
  • Complete Eligibility Verify: Before being awarded the ICO Fellowship, you must submit details showing whether or not you meet all criteria necessary for consideration.
  • Evaluation by an ICO: Once your information has been provided to an ICO, your Eligibility will be assessed. Either you will be informed of their decision to complete their application, or you will not meet the error.
  • Application to Host Training Centre: Once eligible, applicants should select and apply to one of the hosts available; please be aware that one application per host at a time will only be considered.
  • Host Review Your request will be assessed by the selected host, who may accept or deny it; if it’s taken, then details agreed between yourself and the host must be confirmed; otherwise, you must choose another host.
  • Submit Your Fellowship Application: Once submitted, your application will be evaluated by the appropriate ICO Fellowship Committee.
